Why is this important?

Averaging 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night is important because adequate sleep is essential for our health and happiness. Insufficient sleep is directly linked to many chronic illnesses and hurts our brain health. Insufficient sleep also leads to higher stress levels and decreased positivity which in turn can increase the likelihood we feel like skipping exercise or consuming less healthy foods.

His research focuses on the impact of sleep on human health and disease. Matt is the author of the excellent book Why We Sleep, which we recommend to anyone who suffers from poor sleep or is interested in improving their performance.
